Peter Parker's thing has always been responsibility and figuring out how to deal with it. Marvel's method for getting drama out of that fundamental setup has an unfortunate tendency to turn that into Peter Parker whining about shit but that's bad writing, not his fundamental character. It was always about being an adolescent dude with the power and the ability to change the world, and being put in a position where he has to work out how to use that ability, and what it means to be responsible, and how to deal with having loved ones and how to interact with them. And in the best recent Spidey stories about him doing that as a mature adult. From his origin story on, responsibility, figuring out how to act responsibly using the abilities that you've been given, that's the name of the game.

I know you hate Marvel and that's cool but cmon man
