I think it was a bit OTT but that it kind of had to be. Korean media is not a subtle thing and she's reaching out to a Korean audience; and the truth is that while to some extent I understand the scrutiny that people who don't look standard Korean get (the eye is naturally drawn to what's different and Korea is pretty damn homogeneous), and people will always say 'kids will be kids, they don't know any better', the truth is that due to a combination of exacting narrow beauty standards, ignorance, and plain old xenophobia, dark people get treated like shit in Korea. It's going to be an issue to the public, Lee's color, so I think it made sense for her to address it straight out.
