(Anonymous) 2014-03-29 08:27 pm (UTC)(link)the point is that the show doesn't explain the reason behind costuming. that's because it's a show. it SHOWs things. and some things LOOK like some other thinks, if the background is not explained.
So no matter what evil reson behind the pink color, pink on a man is THE tv-tropecode (in US and some European Media) for gay. That plus the context of Ramsay sexually abusing (castrating) theon (including the 'joke' about eating his dick) is sufficient to create a "flamboyantly evil"-image.
It doesn't matter if it's intended, so there's really no difference except if you'd want to go and accuse the creators of homophobia.
tropes aren't bad, and tropes have a context.
