Exactly! It's as if they were each other's only weakness: the ultra macho Marvel hero mold they both fit in very well just doesn't admit to true, illogical friendship (or love) they showed each other.

I'll admit that Deadpool's wacky sense of humor, ultra violence and job as a mercenary makes it look as if he is not too heroic a character, but it is indeed touching to see his consistent respect and care for Cable throughout their long and weird history.

Yes! That is what made their relationship so compelling to me.
And it was touching to see Deadpool, who is usually portrayed as violent and hedonistic, go out of his way to help Cable time and time again, with not benefit to himself (and often at the detriment of himself). And on Cable's part, it was touching to see him care about and respect Deadpool, when most of the other serious heroes treat him, at kindest, as crazy and completely untrustworthy.

Now I feel like giving the series a re-read...

I think I will too!

They are such adorable idiots for each other: in fact I suspect the only reason I like Cable is because he has such a weak spot for Deadpool and vice-versa... Though the Circle Chase storyline had predisposed me to like Deadpool, it's his respect and bafflement when he considers Cable's motivations that seems to give him an incentive to re-examine his life and approach to others...

Oh boy, Cable & Deadpool, never better than when they are together! Why oh why does Marvel not give them their title back... Please oh please? With a cherry on top?

I think teaming up the two was the best thing that ever happened to them character-wise, especially for Cable. And I'm not just saying this as a shipper, but they really are the most interesting when they're paired up together.
I know, I wish Marvel would team them up again. Don't know if anyone could ever top Nicieza's writing them though.

But don't you think Nicieza would like to write another Cable & Deadpool series? Of course he would! What are Marvel executives thinking of, I wonder... enough with your insipid Iron Man stuff that no one cares about (no offense to RDJr whose movies are great), give us Cable & Deadpool back!
