It's okay for art to be sad. I don't think you need to be ashamed of finding this to be an artistically resonant moment worth commemorating in sculpture.

Some desperately sad moments are some of the most worth commemorating in art. Honestly, show me a museum of art only depicting happy moments.

I hear the Pieta is kind of a downer. This would be an amazing statue, I'm just not sure where they'd put it.

Maybe they can build one in front of the Disney animation studio. Not that they ever would, I don't think.

And now it just hit me how much this scene looks like one of those Greek statues.

But yes, it would be a really pretty statue.

Ooo, that would be really pretty and now I want it to happen as well. Maybe Disney will eventually do something with it.

It's a beautiful image and with a strong message of self-sacrifice for the same of those you love. I'd probably buy it if they made a statuette (and if it wasn't crazy expensive).

Both of them or just Anna?

[personal profile] nyxelestia 2014-03-30 10:23 pm (UTC)(link)
While the whole scene is really beautiful and really powerful, Anna on her own like this is a much better 3-dimensional composition than her and Anna together (especially if it's an unpainted statue/one without color distinction).

And if it's just Anna, then while it is still connected to a sad scene it looks a lot less sad on its own and emphasizes the heroics of her sacrifice.

So maybe Disney can make that? :)

(Yes, I know, it's unlikely any of this will happen, but a girl can have pragmatic dreams, right?)

In all seriousness, though, OP, I don't blame you for wanting a statue of this moment - it really is a beautiful and powerful scene and would make for a wonderful state. :)

I have to admit that I always laugh at the puff of air that comes out of the statue... I get that it's her last breath and all, but it just... I dunno... it just makes me giggle

It makes me wet

(not joking!)

My uncle started giggling when my family went with his family to see it (their first, our second). And then because he was giggling, my sister and I started involuntarily giggling, and then my aunt started angry shushing him, and I don't even know what my 10-year-old cousin must've been thinking at that point.

I'm not sure I think this IS such a terribly sad moment - It's a moment in which Anna felt overwhelming love for her sister, and it's the ultimate act of true love moment that they've been searching for.

I WILL BUY THIS IF DISNEY MAKES THIS

I want it in a snow globe that plays, "Do You Want to Build a Snow Man?"

I agree, that really is beautiful.

Elsa Pieta.

You know, I don't think it's all that sad. It's actually pretty beautiful, given the context: it's an expression of "true love."

So, think of it that way, OP. You want to memorialize a moment of altruism and selflessness.
