I actually had this happen to me once or twice, completely by accident. There's a subway station up the block from my school (and our subway line is still a fledgling, so we're not exactly used to them), and I don't usually wear pants because I find the uncomfortable. I can personally attest that the reflex reaction to crossing a grate and having it blow your skirt straight out is to whack your hands at your crotch to keep you from showing your undies to the street. So Marylin is being quite authentic here.
