I'm not doing anything illegal, if that's the concern...I can barely skip a class without gut-clenching guilt, and I'm in college.

I didn't think you were? You're obviously not in a good place right now. It sounds like you're trying to buy people's friendship and that's not healthy. This is all I'm going to say because I'm not a therapist, but I hope you find a better way to deal with it.

And stop giving people money.

And stop giving people money.

This. Seriously this.

(Anonymous) 2014-04-02 12:34 am (UTC)(link)
I only do it when they need it, and only a little. I'd be in big trouble otherwise. It's just not enough. I can't make a difference to anyone, even materialistically.

Everybody needs money at some point. You can't be responsible for everyone. And if people are coming to you saying they need money, but they're not there for you when you need them? Yeah, they're taking advantage of you and you need to cut off their supply.

yep

DA

If you want to "make a difference" go volunteer places. Get yourself out and in the world and actually help out on the ground floor. There are so many opportunities and good programs always looking for help.

Giving random people online little bits of money isn't going to change anything, you're right. So stop doing it.

This! Also volunteer opportunities with solid references look good on any entry-level resume/job application.
