stock photos? model photos?

sort of a random question that i'm not sure how to phrase. if you are fandom involved on tumblr you sometimes see fan casts for characters/gods/goddesses/what have you that use what appear to be just stock photos of non-famous people, or model photoshoots, etc. are there any good sites out there for that kind of thing? i know a lot of stock photo websites are pay which im not about to do lol. maybe those people just know things about fashion and find photoshoots easily, idk.
