For the same reason people crane their necks at a car wreck. On the one hand, you know you don't want to see this shit, but on the other hand, sometimes it's grimly fun and even thrilling to see something awful in progress. Even if it's just to express to your friends how awful it was.

Giving positive fans shit for genuinely enjoying it, though, that's indefensible.

I also really enjoy reading good breakdowns of why a show or other media isn't good/where it's not working/how it could be improved, especially if they pinpoint things that bothered me but that I couldn't quite articulate why. But my interest drops if they turn into rants about the fans.
