Low brow offensive jokes.

(Anonymous) 2014-04-04 11:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Are there any that you find funny?

And do think think there are subjects that shouldn't be joked about ever?

Also favorite comedians!

I like some of that French guy's YouTube prank videos. He recently got in the news for one where he used camera angles to make it look like he was having sex with random women while actually standing a little ways away. I can see how that one is a bit gross, but it still made me laugh a little bit.

The others mostly aren't sexual, but he does do some stuff like stealing, messing with the police, and breaking things, so I always feel like they are pretty juvenile, but they make me laugh anyway.

rémi gaillard! man, this guy is a legend. i live like two hours away from his city, and when you go there and ask about him, you'll either get a very enthusiastic and positive reaction or a very negative one. there's no middle ground with rémi; you either love him or hate him.

I like many of those jokes. And no I don't think anything is off limits as a target for joking. Nothing.

And a joke?

What did the leper say to the prostitute?

Keep the tip.

Oh god we had so many leper jokes (the ones I know don't work in English, though).

here's one someone else told in one of these threads here a while back: Why is it so difficult to fool an aborted fetus? Because they weren't born yesterday!

Okay, I'm pro-life and I laughed. Honestly, I think anything can be made a decent joke of without anyone having much reason to get offended. It can be difficult to manoeuvre the thin line but that doesn't mean you should refrain from telling a good joke with the right audience.

Anything, anything can be joked about. For many, joking about traumatic experiences is the only way they can heal.

It's all about your audience.

Here's one for the grossout crowd:

Why do you think they call it the clap? Well, how else are you gonna get all that gunk out of the schwanson?

Nothing is unfunny if done right.

I'll not look anything up but draw from memory.

A man watches his girlfriend storm down the stairs with a suit case "Whoa honey where are you going?

She turns to him and says "Obviously I'm leaving you asshole"

He looks shocked "What? Why!"

"My therapist" She says. "After talking with her, she made me realize you are a pedophile!"

For all of his hurt feelings he can't help admiring her "Damn baby you know some big words for a seven year old!"

i wouldnt find someone personally mocking my own experiences, or the real experiences of other people, funny, ie. the death of my parents or my rape. if you take the view that literally NOTHING is unfunny if "done right" then youre enabling really harmful mockery directing towards individual experiences.

My favourite comedian is John Cheese. His recent articles on the struggles of whatever aren't as good as they used to be, but his more lighthearted ones are still the best. I also enjoy Cory O'Brien/Ovid for his myth tellings! I've never been so interested in mythology before him.

There are four men on a lifeboat, a Jamaican, a South African, an American, and a Mexican. The boat is sinking due to the weight, so the Jamaican pulls up his suitcase, and shows it to the others, showing them that it's full of marijuana, then he shrugs, and throws it overboard, saying "there's plenty more where that came from." The South African goes next, opening his suitcase to show them all the stacks of gold in his suitcase, before throwing it over the side, saying "there's plenty more where that came from." The American looks at his suitcase, then over at the Mexican, and the Mexican says "don't you fucking dare."

I don't get it. Did the American want to throw the Mexican overboard? Did the Mexican want something from the American's suitcase? I don't get it.

What I love about these "three to four nationalities" jokes are that they exist in just about every country only with switched nationalities.

I generally find a lot of low brow humour offensive as long as I don't detect any real negativity toward someone. I laugh at race jokes and dead baby jokes and all sorts of shit, usually because I have a pretty clear conscience about my own feelings on the matters that are being joked about.

Coming from the lips of a master, "The Aristocrats" is 100 flavors of wrong, and fucking hilarious.

Ditto the anything can be joked about sentiment, but it's time for me to ask for something embarrassing.

Can you guys explain this joke to me?

What do you say to a woman with two black eyes? Nothing, you already told her twice.

Re: Low brow offensive jokes.

(Anonymous) 2014-04-05 02:20 am (UTC)(link)
Guy beats her twice for being dumb. One for each eye.

I feel like the joke is missing something. The punch line is weak, I keep expecting the woman to have some kind of hilarious comeback to make the whole thing click.

I think it basically comes down to who's telling the joke, who they're telling it to, why they're telling it, and how they're telling it. Intent isn't everything, but I believe it must be taken into account along with the rest of the context.

But enough of that boring pseudo-academic horseshit. Here's one of my mom's favorite dead baby jokes, which was originally told to her by her sister, a labor/delivery nurse:

So this woman has just had a really rough birth, and as she's recovering the nurse walks in holding her baby. The mother reaches out her arms to take her son, when suddenly the nurse starts tossing him high up in the air and barely catching him, and then another nurse comes in and they start playing catch with the baby, all while the mother is screaming bloody murder for them to stop. Finally one of the nurses deliberately misses, and the baby flies headfirst into the wall and then lands on the floor with a loud smack. The mother freezes in shock, while the two nurses start laughing and the first one says, "April Fool's, born dead!"
