So I'm going to an 18+ concert by myself (friend bailed last minute) for the first time tomorrow and was wondering if any of you guys had tips on what to do if going alone?

Until recently, I'd go to concerts by myself about 50% of the time. I'd buy two tickets, but about half the time no one else would be free. (Now there's a boyfriend with similar taste in music, so generally I've got an automatic +1)

Personally, I've got no problem just hanging out by myself in a venue. So at the shows I go alone, I'll typically show up, get a drink or something, then sort of hover by whatever location I want to watch the show from while messing around on my phone. (I'm really short, so getting to the right spot early can be vital.)

Once the show starts, no one is going to care or notice who you're there with. Chances are, ahead of time, no one's going to care either, unless they want to hit on you or you decide to hit on them. I apparently give off "leave me the fuck alone" vibes when I'm by myself, so I've never had to deal with unwanted attention at a show.

Basically, go, enjoy yourself, and remember that everyone else there is too busy doing their own thing to judge you.

The general basics like "Don't leave your drink alone/be careful around other people". Do that kind of stuff and you should, generally, be alright.

Meh, just the same as if you were going with a friend, really. The only trick I've learned in going alone is to make sure I don't drink much before the concert (much of anything, not just alcohol) so I don't have to pee in the middle, since there will be no one to save my place.

Damn, anon, are you me? I was debating with myself whether or not to attend an upcoming concert by myself (it's on a weekday, unfortunately, but the performance is the closest it will ever be to me).

Looking at this thread, I just may collect enough balls to actually go.
