Congrats, friend! I usually end up shipping rarepairs (or, even worse, rarepairs in small fandoms) so when I end up writing for more popular fics, it's always such a nice surprise when I'm suddenly flooded with comments and kudos. I have a few Thor/Loki fics that were recced several times so even though I haven't written anything new in months, I still get an email of kudos every day :D I also once had a rarepair for which I took up a challenge and ended up writing 40 fics in two weeks which made me pleasantly popular to this day.

Oh man, isn't that the best? Getting that kudos email if you haven't written anything in a while. Also, wow -- forty fics in two weeks? That's pretty damn amazing! It's great to get inspired like that (but, like you, that tends to only happen to me with super-rare pairings).

It is! Sometimes I get a sudden onslaught of kudos for one fic and I'm like 'I got recced again :D'.

I was actually doing one of those Tumblr 'reblog and I'll write something for you' things, except it was exclusively for that one pairing. I hadn't even met five fans of the ship at the time so I was really surprised to suddenly get 40 people responding! All of them were around 1k words or more too. I can tell that somebody has just been introduced to the ship when I get kudos for half of them or more from the same person.
