Process vs product, I don't think I've ever thought of it that way. That makes sense. I think it's true that, while I enjoy the process, my focus is more on the product I'm working to create. I can see how it might be more difficult to aim for publication if your focus has always been on the process.

Interesting to me though, how you mentioned experiencing the story from beginning to end. I feel like I experience my story all at the same time, or at least all over the place, because I have pieces of scenes from every point in the story going in my head. True, that's different from the experience of actually sitting down and writing the scene out, but I think that sense of ongoing interconnected story was part of what let me try writing this last one out of order. I'm considering writing a process vs. product post over in write-away but I'm going to be away from my computer most of this weekend so it's probably not the best time to be making new posts.

I love thinking about stuff like this though. I find it interesting that I'm such a process writer when I seem to be the complete opposite with the knitting I just mentioned. I'm all about the end product there.

That's funny to me as well because the tiny bit of knitting I've done (poorly) has been much more process-oriented than most things I do. I'm always interested in the philosophy and...processes...behind what I do and what others do differently from me. I'm sure others will like that topic on write-away too, next week or whenever you get to it.
