What are the things that are unique to literature that aren't in other forms of art or expressions of thought? I love literature too and I'd be interested in hearing your answer.

I think it makes sense and I agree about the exchange of ideas. I think there are trade-offs with other forms of art though. The blanks you are filling in with your imagination are different but to my mind they are still there. For example, I love paintings that seem to be telling a story, especially ones that are surreal and the imagery that tells that story is more symbolic than a straightforward depiction of events.

I don't know if I would say that 75% of movies or TV are already interpreted. I feel like you're focusing on the visual. Maybe it's because I don't usually have a very clear picture of characters I read about in my head. I'm usually way more focused on trying to empathize with their thoughts and feelings and that process is pretty much the same in a movie for me.
