I'm more used to people not noticing the fic if traffic on the site is high, actually. If it's low traffic, then it might just take longer for people to come back onto the site and notice the post.

Where do you post? I think it might depend a little on the kind of traffic the site/fandom gets - say you post at a quiet time, and then some hours later posting starts picking up... if your fic is pushed out of the first, say, 5-10 pages by the end of that period, then that might be a factor in people not seeing it.

Instead of reposting though, perhaps you might consider posting an announcement about the fic in the appropriate fandom community? My schedule means I'm usually on at quiet times too, so I usually post my fic to my journal, then post a brief description and link in a couple of relevant fandom comms on LJ. Use whatever forum seems appropriate to you!

In my fandom, most of the active comms are fests or ship oriented, but I'll see if there's any that aren't. I could also post at Ao3 or ff.n, I guess.
