Tbh I see where they were coming from.

But religions are not like other ideologies, and I don't think you can judge an individual person based on what their religion is/what their holy book says. More than anything, well-established religions are rooted in tradition, which means that many members of the community who seem to acknowledge and accept everything written in the holy book/said by the religious leaders will have views that directly contradict everything they seem to accept.

Which means that the fact that the Old Testament is a horrible book has little bearing on Judaism as a religion or on any Jew as an individual.
