College is not all it's cracked up to be. You're dropping lots of money (and possibly going into debt) to avoid something you'll eventually have to do anyway. If that's literally your only reason (you don't have any particular aspiration to do something that requires a degree) it might not be a good idea.

Of course, college is different for lots of people. I don't really like it, and I have a long rant about the education system in the US and how misguided I feel many high school grads are, but for some people it's a great experience.

Exactly. I know it's not at all a popular opinion but I don't think going to college is necessarily the right choice for everyone. I quit after a few years (I kept switching majors and just couldn't find anything I wanted to pursue) and ended up finding a well-paying job that I love that didn't require a college degree, so now I wish I'd never gone at all and hadn't had to take out all those student loans.
