Yeah, there are so many same-y crime shows that overuse these tropes or just don't know what to do with them that it's easy to dismiss a character like that out of hand and forget that the right actors/writers/directors can make pretty much anything awesome again. I laugh so much at the cooking montages, Will's snark, Hannibal's terrible jokes, the science guys, etc.
