Little bit confused upon reading this one. If someone would be so kind as to clarify - the last sentence "I'd feel like I'd have to." - what exactly does that mean? Like, OP feels like they have to bring up the fandom? Or OP feels like they have to stir up bad memories?

I think they mean that they want to bring up the fandom but they know it would bring up bad memories to their friend.
