Disney said a few months ago that they may go back on their CGI only policy.

Did they? That's great...I know rumors were about that Moana would be made in the Paperman half and half style.

Paperman was all CGI.

AS I understood, it was hand-drawn then finished up as CGI that made for a pretty interesting blend (I thought).

It was hand-drawn using custom software directly onto 2-D frames rendered from 3-D character rigs, which makes the whole process CGI.
