I don't know when the Emelan books came out, but wrt to the Tortall books, I agree; I wasn't super fond of any of the Tortall books post-Kel, though I am interested in the Numair book, when it comes out, just because Numair. >_____>;;

The Emelan books, I like the first quartet, and then the second quartet, but I wasn't fond of the Circle Reforged book, or Melting Stones. I'm not really sure how those fit in, though, compared to the others. ^^;

Yeah, I think part of it might do with her shift away from quartets. She ended up doing that with both Emelan and Tortall.

Or Battle Magic. I loved the interactions between Briar, Rosethorn, and Evv, because they are the best family of stubborn mules, but the plot and pacing felt really off. Everything was wrapped up in, what, a month? From Will of the Empress, I got the impression that Briar had been there for years.

I honestly haven't read it yet. ^^; But if that's the case, I'm going to be confused as well, because I thought at least a year, myself, reading Empress. :/
