(Anonymous) 2014-04-07 11:51 pm (UTC)(link)i've come to talk with you again
because a vision softly creeping
left its seeds while I was sleeping
and the vision that was planted in my brain
still remains
within the sound
of silence

'neath the halo of a streetlamp
i turned my collar to the cold and damp
when my eyes were stabbed
by the flash of a neon light
that split the night
and touched the sound of silence
story time
I will also share an anecdote: when I lived in Korea, one day I was walking with friends in Namsan Park. We had no umbrellas, and it suddenly started pouring rain. Sheets and sheets of it. So we rushed for one of the tiny gazebos they had dotted around the park, climbed up, and found ourselves sharing it with several Koreans who were unprepared for the rain as well. So we all sat there in silence for a few minutes, looking at each other, when suddenly one of the guys sets up a tiny screen on a tripod, takes out panpipes, his girlfriend takes out some tambourines, and we all started singing Beatles and Simon and Garfunkel songs together.
At one point one of the old ladies got up and started dancing.
It's the kind of scene that if you'd seen in a movie you'd have thought it was overdone and cheesy, but it actually happened that way.
