"Hella" was an offline slang term long before the interwebz.

It is, but I've noticed it being more popular among nerds as of late.

I thought that too, and was wondering if I missed something. (I've been using hella for a long ass time.)

Drive by icon love!

Also, I thought "hella" was regional slang, not internet slang - as far as I knew, it was very San Francisco/Northern California centric, then migrated to the Internet which disseminated it elsewhere (I think bandom had something to do with this?). I know that around here, identifying classmates as being from NorCal is as easy as counting how many times they use 'hella' in a conversation, but it was hella weird when I started hearing my SoCal born-and-raised friends using it. I knew Internet had something to do with that, but I didn't realize just how much.

Thanks! :)

Ooo, I had no idea it was a regional thing! I've never been to California so not sure where I picked it up, but then again I don't say it constantly either so I guess it isn't the same.

Hmmm. That might explain why I don't hear other people say it...

I remember using 'hella' years and years ago. Sadly now people seem to be misusing it. (Things are not 'hella!')

I'm from Oakland so I hear hella all the time and don't even think much about it.
