Try the Lightbringer series by Brent Weeks? Good characters, good magic system, etc.

You can also try the webcomic Unsounded. The first chapter may seem a bit childish, but don't let that turn you off. It gets very compelling very quickly, and I have yet to find a webcomic with comparable art.

The Shadow (or whatever it's called, but all the books begin with Shadow something) books by Brent Weeks are excellent, too, and the trilogy is finished, whereas I think there's still another book coming yet in Lightbringer?

The Night Angel Trilogy, I'm reading it now. :)
But yeah, you can probably find all of them just by searching for books about Shadows something, that's pretty much what all the titles come down to.
