Are there any it took you awhile to warm up to? A couple fandom friends were talking about this the other day and I realized all my favorite pairings were ones I loved from the very beginning.

How about you guys?

Please tell me the magic of how to come to like it, please.

Do you have to like it, anon? I can only tell you why I like it, and that's not the same thing at all.

For full disclosure, what I like about the pairing is the potential of them finding common ground when they're from two different worlds. I think there's the potential for quite gritty, adult stories there. Admittedly I like the idea of the pairing a million times more than I like most Mystrade fans and fic.

Hmm. Interesting. I have a lot that I started liking and then stopped liking.

I guess maybe one would be Sam/Jack from Stargate. I've always had issues shipping pairings where one is the boss of the other. But I did see the chemistry, and I was eventually sold on the idea of them being together after he left Stargate Command.

Jack/Daniel. Again for the above reason. Took me longer to get into this, but I read some awesome fics and then started shipping.

Oh, Aragorn/Arwen. Mostly because I was really into Aragorn/Eowyn for a while and had a few issues with Arwen as a character. But some awesome defenses of the pairing and some good fics sold me. Now I ship it (though I still ship Aragorn with lots of other people).

Seconding Sam/Jack after he left the SGC. I shipped Jack/Daniel in the first few seasons but didn't feel the chemistry after a while. Daniel/Paul Davis I hated at the time, now I like the idea of them ending up together.

I think Abyss in season 6 is what actually sold me on Jack/Daniel. So maybe I just ship Jack/ascended!Daniel? I don't know. I just know that I like it, though I prefer Jack/Sam.

The only one I can think of is Mickey/Ian from Shameless. I really disliked them together at first, started liking them a little bit, went back to disliking them for awhile, and now I totally love them.

Skimmons. For a long time I couldn't figure out why anyone would ship them and now I can't stop.
