If it's the pretentious thing, you could maybe reframe it. Gwyneth Paltrow really seems more to be oblivious and unaware, but well-meaning, than actively "fuck the poor". I find that a lot more forgivable. Note that I really don't watch celebrity lives, so there's every possibility that she's actually a hateful shrew and I just don't know it, so just ignore me if that's true.

But it seems that it's more of a casting mismatch for you, from your second paragraph. In that case, you have my sympathies. It sucks when you can't enjoy a role just because of something being off.

I agree that she's not malicious about it... it's not like she goes around kicking homeless people in the face. On the other hand, is there really an excuse for being that oblivious in this day and age, especially when someone like Paltrow has access to every form of media in existence?

Not that it excuses it, but most people aren't going to go out of their way to educate themselves on a subject that has little direct affect or concern on/to them, even if they have the easiest resources to access it.

I mean, there's tons of information and resources on pretty much everything that almost anyone could very easily access, but to think it occurs to people this is a thing they can and should research is rare.

People who are constantly working on film sets can be working for 16 hours a day. If you work for 16 hours a day for multiple days a week, you're not going to have a ton of time to know what's going on.
