This makes sense to me. I hate almost all fanservice because it's not what I want, what the character wants, or what makes sense, instead it's what some male director somewhere wants. Not interested in knowing your fetishes dude.

Most of those complaints still apply, though.

If it doesn't make sense for there to be a focus on toned manbutt, washboard abs, or homoerotic subtext in the context of a story, I'm still going be broken out of the immersion and wondering about what kind fetishes the director was into. Even if those are apparently supposed be there for me, the demographic.
