Holding a gun boosts level of testosterone in both men and women. Head down to the shooting range, anon?

You do know women have testosterone too, right? And many have high levels of it, ie all the millions with PCOS.

Pretty much like a hormone.

Re: Testosterone

[personal profile] the_missing_y 2014-04-11 11:58 pm (UTC)(link)
That's... actually a point... A sudden infusion of another hormone (adrenaline (sp)) has a specific feel. That heart shaking sudden shock of a feeling. Has anyone else ever injected themselves with testosterone? I'm beginning to think the original question had more merit than it originally seemed.

I have sound-tactile synaesthesia, so I had my flatmate read out the word for me.

It feels like a soft tingle behind the left ear, like scratching yourself with a ball pen that's being somewhat slightly structurally disintegrated by a passing space-time anomaly in the shape of a duck, and then bouncing off your chest a bubble made of the sound 'oh'.

Most of life? Doesn't feel like much of anything. During puberty? It's crazyjuice.

It doesn't feel like anything. No matter your gender you have it in your body so...

My friend had to take extra testosterone for a medical condition last year. She said it made her feel more impulsive and gave her a strong urge to go find something heavy to carry around. She also said that it made her feel like smashing through doors instead of just opening them. Never experienced that much of the hormone myself, but it sounds like a fun time.

That sounds about right. I actually get that urge to move/workout/exert on a fairly consistent basis. I should be in much better shape dammit.

"gave her a strong urge to go find something heavy to carry around"

I laughed. This is a great description.

Wait, some women don't experience that normally? Really? Oh. I figured my testosterone level was higher because of my medical condition but I've always thought everyone got like that at least once in a while.

Well, in many forms its wet, except when it's a gel.

I am a trans dude so I inject T regularly.

When it's at the right levels, it feels like I have more energy. I need to eat more and my libido's higher. I feel bouncier and happier. I can control my moods better - I'm much more calm and less nervous than before. I'm also more emotionally removed from events. It's a bit like seeing things through a window rather than being in the room.

When the levels are too high I get angry very very easily and it's difficult to control. My heart will always be racing and the slightest thing can set me off. It's unpleasant.

When the levels are too low, it's like the bottom's dropped out of the world. I feel slow, heavy and unable to do anything. I feel like crying all the time and even getting out of bed is difficult.
