To be fair, both Johansson and Renner are the weak links in the Avengers and Captain America 2. Renner especially is underwhelming.

IA about Renner, but don't fault him. He was pretty much just there to motivate the Black Widow.

Disagree completely about Johansson. She carried a huge portion of the emotion brunt of Avengers, literally gathered the team, and had a stronger character arch than...well, really anyone else. And I thought she (and everyone else) was brilliant in CA2. The weakest link there I thought was Bucky, for much the same reason Clint was in Avengers. He was more a plot device than a character, there to drive home how depressed Steve was.

She and Fury *made* CA2 for me. Johansson was amazing.

The Winter Soldier guy was so emo he could have channeling Robert Smith. Cap was okay. He's such a straight man and his arc didn't move much.

There's nothing "fair" about it. Some people enjoy them. Some people don't. Neither side is correct.
