It's different. Lucretia and Batiatus were interesting characters. They loved each other madly and they had a great relationship. We saw them doing other things beside raping slaves. They weren't good people, but there were times when it was easy to like them. And Batiatus' rants were priceless.

The Epps, on the other hand, were bitter, repressed, dull. I didn't see any positive qualities on them. What's there to like?

I thought the Epps were interesting characters. Fassbender gave one of the best performances IMO.

Edwin Epps at least seemed to be slightly conflicted with his feelings towards Patsey and IMO the ambiguity present in an otherwise horrible person made him interesting to watch. The wife less so but she was given less to do.

God, Luctretia and Batiatus were awful people but at the same time they were such compelling awful people that they were definitely a big part of why I watched the show.
