Well, I do think "de-brainwashing with the power of love" was what they were going for, what with Steve refusing to fight and "I'm with you till the end of the line" and everything. Whether it worked for you or not is a personal thing.

I'm not saying that didn't happen. I'm just saying I didn't feel the slash vibes, and yes I don't think Steve/Bucky would be as popular if he weren't white.

No I certainly don't mean to imply that. Compared to huge ships like Tony/Loki and Clint/Coulson, heck even MCU Steve/Tony, they're practically canon.

That's a given, but I think it would still be more popular than Sam/Steve. The backstory and the angst are working against Sam/Steve on that one.
