Yeah, I could see that. I'd be depressed about it too.

(Anonymous) 2014-04-14 11:03 pm (UTC)(link)
I pretty much did that, too. Actually, I pretty much dropped out of the fandom.

(Anonymous) 2014-04-14 11:09 pm (UTC)(link)
That seems completely understandable. So much so that I don't understand why people would not understand it. Have you ever gotten flak for leaving or stopping writing in a fandom for this?

(Anonymous) 2014-04-14 11:18 pm (UTC)(link)
I can see this as an issue for sure.

I'm kind of the opposite; it inspires me more, to write fix-it material. But I do understand where you're coming from.

I usually also quit the fandom when that happens.

(Anonymous) 2014-04-14 11:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Fortunately, it doesn't happen all that often.

I'm this weird opposite in that I get into fandoms when they kill a character off, thinking of fix - it fics and the like.

(Anonymous) 2014-04-15 12:29 am (UTC)(link)
Me too. I don't even know why.

(Anonymous) 2014-04-15 05:26 am (UTC)(link)
Same here.

Awww. I'm sorry OP. I can understand that, even though I'm kinda the opposite of that. Favorite character death is one of the reasons I write fics.

This seems pretty normal. Why wouldn't people understand? Quite a few ardent Sirius/Remus fans dropped out of the fandom part of HP after Sirius died.

Yeah, it's disheartening.
But it tends to inspire me even more, oddly enough!

Icon very relevant :p.

You know, if the character isn't a favorite of mine, character death makes me think more about them and their storyline before it happened, the effect on everyone else, how to bring them back.

One of the reasons I never ever watch any original TV series until they are finished.

Doesn't happen with books, though. I give more of a damn about the quality of writing than I do about most characters.
