Years ago I slowly slipped into a funny living situation. My best friend lived a town over - not very far, but she didn't have a car and public transport stopped after a certain time. So when we met at my place and the evening was really fun, I would sometimes ask her to just stay the night. Well, that happened more and more often, and after a while she kind of moved in with me.
My flat was tiny, and not suited at all for being roommates, so it could have been really weird. But somehow it wasn't. In the mornings both of us would go to work, and after a couple of months had passed, we would kiss each other goodbye at the bus station. Just a quick peck on the lips, and the first time it happened it was almost an afterthought, and then we were both a bit surprised.
We had the briefest chat about it that evening. "About this morning, that was kind of a reflex? But somehow it felt right, didn't it?" "Yeah, I thought so, too." So we kept doing those goodbye, have a nice day-kisses. :-)
