Amen, sister!
I love spewing violent vitriol at characters I hate (because at least you won't hurt the character's feelings), but it is almost never because of a ship-block. (The only example I can think of where it would be is Mei in Avatar, but it's less because Mei/Zuko blocks my ship--which really wasn't gonna happen anyway--and more because I think Zuko being in a ship with such a two-dimensional character does a disservice to the complex character they've given him. He doesn't need to be in a ship at all! )
But seriously, if you're passionate about a fictional show(definition of fandom), it stands to reason you can be equally passionate about hating a character in it.
People always assume it has to do with a blocked OTP. Honestly.

(Anonymous) 2007-11-19 07:16 pm (UTC)(link)for a lot of the superficial shipper/fans, it is all about the blocked OTP which is why it's a shame and makes it hard for those of us who couldn't care about blocked anything but really do hate the character. for most young fans, it's all black and white and they rarely see variations and shades of reasoning.
