Something else. Scarlett gets hated on for the whole Sodastream debacle, which went down something like this - Scarlett was a spokesperson for Oxfam. She then started shilling for Sodastream. People pointed out that Sodastream operates an illegal factory in the West Bank. Instead of stepping down from Sodastream, Scarlett stepped down from Oxfam. She then gave interviews defending Sodastream's factory and slammed Oxfam.

As for Natalie... she just says a lot of different stupid things, I think. And we know ONTD can't forgive any slip-ups, heh.

its stupid that they hold israel to a higher standard than all the other countries in the world

(Anonymous) 2014-04-15 11:16 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't think it's really come up before in that a celebrity hasn't mouthed off about it yet, but I doubt ONTD would like someone who defended America's exploitation of Native Americans.

People don't hate Gal Gadot on ONTD even though she's from Israel and actually served in the IDF, because unlike Scarlett, she hasn't said anything defending Israel's treatment of Palestinians.

(Anonymous) 2014-04-16 08:49 am (UTC)(link)
Or maybe because she's not as high profile as these two? She did serve in the IDF, if this photo title is anything to go by:

(Anonymous) 2014-04-16 09:00 am (UTC)(link)
I meant to say that it seems she's proud of it, not that those photos confirm that she was in the military.

(Anonymous) 2014-04-15 11:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Uh, no. Its more like they get pissed that Israel gets held to a much lower standard than any other country. If any other country did what Israel does, we would not be throwing that much money into them, shilling for them so strongly, or justifying every little thing they do. (American here, and Israel is the only country we shill for to the same degree that isn't ourselves).

(Anonymous) 2014-04-15 11:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Shhh, quiet there with stating facts you... you... NAZI COMMIE ANTI SEMITE SCUM

(Anonymous) 2014-04-15 11:35 pm (UTC)(link)
you mean like the people who bash israel justify everything palestine does?

(Anonymous) 2014-04-15 11:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Those Palestine oppressors, tearing down Israeli homes to build their own and shooting at people who bring the starving Israeli population supplies and food.

It's almost as appalling as the Israeli state giving medals of honor to the soldiers who shot dead Muslim 19 year olds in the flotilla.

(Anonymous) 2014-04-16 12:11 am (UTC)(link)
Are you talking about this or someone else?

lollllllllll I'm sorry can we start criticizing the countries that are ACTUALLY murdering their population first? Or the ones that have no democracy? Or the ones that have no civil rights at all?
Israel is criticized left and right even though plenty of countries are hella worse but noooooooo it's because Israel is ~teh devil~ and the media bias makes everything better.

(Anonymous) 2014-04-16 12:41 am (UTC)(link)
Please. It's not like everyone's in love with (for example) North Korea or anything. People can and do criticize a lot of other countries. But we're talking about Israel here because that's what Scarlett and Natalie talk about. People would hate them just as much if they started singing the praises of Kim Jong Un. Take Dennis Rodman.

(Anonymous) 2014-05-08 03:45 am (UTC)(link)
Save the helpless, victimized "Palestinians"!

No, don't.

(Anonymous) 2014-04-16 09:05 am (UTC)(link)
You don't have to. There are plenty of countries that do things much worse than Israel does and don't get as much as a peep.

I guess you think it's fair that in 2013, out of 25 UNHRC resolutions, 21 were aimed at Israel and only 4 against any other countries in the world? You know, not Syria (who butchers it's own citizens to this day), Sudan (who comitted a genocide), Cuba, China, Turkey, Russia, Iran, Egypt, or really, any other country in the world. Clearly, the human rights situation in Israel is much dire than in any of those. The UNHRC wouldn't just be unfair, right?

(Anonymous) 2014-04-16 04:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Your entire argument: But but Bobby did it tooooooo!

(Anonymous) 2014-04-16 06:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Right. And I got jail while Bobby got nothing.

(Anonymous) 2014-05-08 03:41 am (UTC)(link)
IAWTC!!!

(Anonymous) 2014-04-15 11:59 pm (UTC)(link)
With Natalie a lot of the hate is because she defended director Roman Polanski, who's a convicted Child rapist and signed a petition (along with a number of other high profile actors, directors, and producers; including Harrison Ford and Emma Thompson) to get the bastard free when he was temporarily detained in Switzerland some years back (unfortunately ended up being freed on a legal loophole).

(Anonymous) 2014-04-16 08:59 am (UTC)(link)
But she doesn't get nearly as much of a pass as Emma Thompson, Harrison Ford, David Lynch, Martin Scorcese or Tilda Swinton over this, does she?

(Anonymous) 2014-04-16 10:30 am (UTC)(link)
A)No, I don't give her a pass, and she's Jewish B) I condemn every single fucking person who signed that petition and hope one day their careers shrivel up and die. Hell, karma's already caught up to Woody Allen.

(Anonymous) 2014-04-16 10:57 am (UTC)(link)
Uh… that's my point. Portman doesn't get a pass like those people. Every time someone makes a thread about her there are always at least 3 people jumping up with this. But Emma Thompson? Tilda Swintom? Guillermo del Toro? They get nothing.

(Anonymous) 2014-04-22 05:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Emma Thompson withdrew her signature.

(Anonymous) 2014-04-16 04:05 am (UTC)(link)
Unless the person is one of their favs (still baffled that so many of them stan 1D tbh...)
