Agents of SHIELD watchers?

How have you liked the last few episodes? I'm really torn about them. On the one hand, I was mad curious about how they would deal with the events of Winter Soldier, and so far they're doing interesting things with it; but on the other hand, I liked my little 'background characters' show with its stilted dialogue and lack of momentous things happening, and now that it's all HIGH DRAMA I'm kinda like "Yay!" and kinda like "Nooo my babies :("

Also WTF is up with Ward?!?

I'm really enjoying it. Hopefully they'll keep up the characterization in spite of the action. I love how it tied into the movie. Ward...I found him so dull and unlikeable that I'm just glad they're shaking things up there. May is my favorite and I loved the part with her and Coulson last week.

I always found Ward dull but in an endearing way, kind of? Like "Bless your heart you're so stiff and so hard-core married to the job that you don't know how to people, awwww" And now I'm kind of like "NOO you big dumb white-bread lunk, that is not how you people!!!" and I want to curl around him protectively and hiss at Garret.

The May-Coulson thing is great, because they both have a point (Yes, she was under orders, and yes, this was really important to him and not cool that she kept it from him) and I really want to see them come through this. "You really mean a lot to me, Phil. A lot." That second 'a lot' killed me it was so unguarded, I just want Coulson and May to be old war buddies again.

I did feel that way about Ward in the episode where they showed his brothers, but I felt like they didn't keep it up enough to keep my affection.

The part about May putting together the team was my favorite. How each was selected and the actual lines in the script when she stated it so simply. I feel like that knowledge gives the whole premise of the show so much more weight.

I hope Ward stays evil. There is a good chance he's a triple quadrupedal agent, but I think him being a bad boy works. I'm also a bit bitter on how May/Ward ended. All of that amazingness and then we find he was in love with Skye the whole time. Wtf show.

I can't say I liked May/Ward but the Ward/Skye stuff made me go "boooo" really loudly.

Ward/Skye is too little too late for me. I mean, I could turn around and find myself shipping it magically, but for now I'm nhf this at all.

I was a bit, "What?" about May/Ward when it first happened but it grew on me. I they they were pretty cute together and am sad that it ended so badly. They had a nice thing going.

I was surprised when he fist hooked up with May because I figured they'd put him with Skye straight out but no they did something different! Until they didn't. Oh well. :P

I'm sort of imagining Ward doing the somewhat silly-looking Teen Wolf hands-and-feet run they sometimes do when wolfed out.

I like it! I'm so disappointed about Victoria Hand though; she was awesome and I would've liked to see her work with Coulson and gang more. (Off topic but: her hair. HER HAIR. She couldn't have looked cooler. I want that hair.)

The Coulson and May stuff has been delicious, I might be a little in love with Fitz (why you cry so pretty?), and I'm enjoying Triplett and Simmon's scenes. I don't know what to think about Ward right now. If he's truly Hydra, he needs to die. Maybe even if he isn't; if those three shield agents are actually dead he needs to go. (And tbh I don't hate Ward at all. He isn't my favorite, but I actually don't find him completely boring or unlikable like a lot of the fanbase does. I don't want him to be Hydra, but making him Hydra is an interesting twist. It might be best if they stick with it.)

Victoria Hand better not be gone, I've been really liking her and I want to see more of her. Though I also kind of want Ward to actually be bad because it would make him more interesting for me(like you I don't hate him, but I do find him very boring bar the last episode).

HER HAIR IS FABULOUS, IT'S ONE REASON SHE NEEDS TO STILL BE ALIVE.

Victoria Hand is so cool! I'm still holding out hope.

I have to say, one of the most refreshing things about that show is the near 1:1 gender ratio on both sides at all levels.

I hope Victoria Hand is alive. They zoomed on in her bleeding, so that might be a hint that the blood is fake? Idk tho.

I kinda ship Coulson/May after the recent ep. Trip & Simmons make a really cute couple and I'm looking forward to see how the they progress. Fitz just needs a million hugs.

I cheered when they made Ward Hydra. Because I don't like him much. Now he's evil and I can feel cool about not liking him while liking the actual team.

I'm a little sad for Hand dying right as I started liking her. She had a pink strip in her hair, yo! That's some Tonks stuff right there, that's great.

Also I realized shortly after I started shipping Skimmons that large chunks of the fanbase also ship Skimmons. I am not quite sure what to do with all this fic. I'm not used to having to sift through things, usually I just take what I can get.

I also spent a portion of the last episode yelling at the TV for Coulson to trust May again. I want more of their banter, dammit. I will probably do a bit of that tonight, too.

I will be so very disappointed if Ward doesn't stay evil, though honestly I'm preparing for disappointment. Making him evil seems like it'd be by far the more interesting choice than having him be a double-triple-whatever agent. I'd like to see the show actually have some guts and go all the way with it (and like everyone else has said, it makes Ward far more interesting a character).

Am I missing any major plot points in the MCU that are in the show? I have no interest in watching it but I don't want to miss important stuff.

If you're concerned with SHIELD happenings/Coulson/Fury/Maria, you might be? I find the tie-in episodes pretty interesting, but the show is just like any other extended universe franchise. Fun, but not necessary to the larger picture unless you're obsessed.

At the moment they're retaking SHIELD bases and trying to regroup. That's about it, although Hill and Fury are going to be in at least one episode at the end of the season.

Hydra freed a lot of villains? That might be important.

I'm completely in love with what's going on. I'm a big fan of us-against-the-world drama, so this is fabulous.


I'm hoping Victoria Hand is still alive, and that Ward really is evil and will be replaced by Trip.

I love Trip so much and Hand better have been wearing a bulletproof vest or carrying some miracle serum in an inside pocket :(

spoilers for tonight's episode

I'm really hoping they ditch Ward (not necessarily kill him, imprisoning him for the shit he's done would suffice, and would keep him around if they need a baddy/morally dubious team-up option in a future season). Both because he's dull and because even if the people he shot turn out to be magically not-dead, I feel like he's put far too many weapons into Hydra's hands and unleashed far too many horrible superpowered people on the world to really be redeemable.

Also, I want the team to keep Trip. Who I ship with Simmons like burning. (As a side note, the latest episode's left me certain that I really do not want FitzSimmons as a romantic pairing, because his possessiveness over her is really unpleasant.)

tl;dr I liked the last few episodes, but am kind of wary about how the show's going to handle the fallout, because it has the potential to be really disappointing.
