I can understand that, but he takes most if not all of the blame for everything that happened with the love triangle and that bugs me.

I don't think anyone comes out of the love triangle unscathed. Korra, Mako, and Asami weren't great people in s2 to each other. I think Mako gets a lot of the heat because he's the middle player and doesn't treat either women as well as they could be. Asami's also not a fully constructed character without Mako to hang onto and that needs to change. Korra at least had a well developed growth arc at the end imo.

I think the writers really dropped the ball on the triangle. K/M/A's love is very high school, but no one wants to see a high school love drama in LoK and that's where they lost a lot of viewers.

It was so pointless. I hated how Asami got angry at Mako for not telling her he was single again, as if it were a crime or something. It made S1 feel pointless to me. Personally I ignore season two ever happened, and am going to avoid s3/4.
