I was already done with ScarJo after the Woody Allen/Sodastream things, but I just saw that she's in a new movie that might as well be called Brown Guys Do Bad Things to a White Woman, and while I know that isn't all her, it was just kind of like...strike three? I don't want to see her anymore.

I didn't know Chinese people were considered brown now.

According to some people, if you're not white, you're brown, regardless of actual skin color.

That said, the movie looks dumb as shit so i can't blame people for not wanting to see it.

A friend of mine (Chinese) and I (whiter than white bread) were at a coffee shop a few years back, and a group of teens of mixed racial backgrounds came in and were discussing amongst themselves another friend who had gone tanning, and was much darker now, and how she looked really good compared to someone else they knew who was all splotchy, citing "White people just tan funny." Then the conversation turned turned to skin tone in general. One guy asked another to do describe him, and the friend said "you're kinda yellow, like a toasted Twinkie." After a few more attempts to find yellow things that matched the kid's skin tone, my friend jumped in with "no, *I'm* yellow. It's a whole historical thing about calling Asians yellow. And it's not that white people tan funny, it's that they don't tan at all. Look at my friend, you put her outside for five minutes and she goes directly from translucent to lobster!"

Meanwhile I'm just like "My family first came to North America more than 400 years ago, the lack of melanin in our skin is really the only plight my people have faced."
