I am becoming more and more embarrassed by my friend's lack of social skills, but don't have enough myself to make new, non-embarrasing ones.

Right back 'atcha. I love my friends, but man, sometimes I want to hang out with people who can talk about topics other than children's cartoons andwon't complain about how drinking is bad for your health and stupid when we're at a bar talking to new, normal people.

As I said, love my friends, but also need new ones.

Omg, yes. One of my friends talks about how awful and immoral heavy drinking is and how she's totally better than all the other girls, but goes around and says that's she and I are going to get totally wasted (on awful tasting fandom themed drinks no less) once she turns 21. It makes me want to punch a wall.

True, though many people go to bars without the intention of getting drunk.

This kinda reads to me like "I don't want to be friends with my friend in public because they make me look less cool"
