1. Good, because that would be weird.
2. No. That is quite a leap to make.

1. It really would be.
2. Then, would you care to elaborate? I am both concerned and curious, but I think it's pretty obvious that if telling me anonymously about your problem makes you exceptionally uncomfortable then no one's going to make you do it.

Because it's an anon thread on the internet? There's basically no danger to anyone involved, and the OP felt comfortable enough to post this in a secret thread. I reply to these threads because they give me a lot of access and insight into things people might not be willing to tell me face to face (I won't get into it too much but there's a lot of group conditioning that goes into what people are willing to admit on record).

...maybe people don't feel comfortable telling you things face-to-face because you're intrusive?

People tell me all sorts of weird/personal/painful things, and I'm no one's doctor. They just sit down and start blabbing.

Not even slightly what I meant. I wasn't talking about myself at all. I was talking about a general psychological phenomenon, and some of the extra legwork I do to make sure I'm cross referencing what people are likely to tell me anonymously vs. what they are likely to tell me in a clinical setting since they are often very different things as a matter of course.

People are more likely to tell people about taboo things when they are not in a position of authority, and finding out what someone with a psychological issue might actually be feeling vs. what they say they are feeling is extremely important to me in order to have a thorough understanding of how particular conditions present themselves.
