I haven't played the sequels yet, but I liked Hope a lot! Err, not sexually, though. But I was sad that so many gamers thought he was annoying. I thought he was adorable, and I liked the relationship he and Lightning had.

Though that leads me to my Japanese-anime/game/manga pet peeve. Why are teenagers always so short? Like, a fourteen year old boy could very well be the height of a grown man. Hope has a mature enough face, but he's like four feet tall compared with Lightning.

(Though in my case I didn't even finish the first game, but I liked Hope well enough. He was cute. This is coming from someone who didn't dislike any of the characters though, so maybe I'm just particularly hard to irritate? ... Er, I don't truly believe that, but still, the cast didn't bother me.)

ayrt

I didn't hate any of the characters, though I didn't really like Snow - his cheesy "I'm a hero!" blathering reminded me of an ex-boyfriend. lol But I liked Snow's interactions with Lightning and with Hope. Just not him with Serah - who I didn't like either, probably due to her boring 10-year-old design (but I liked her relationship with Lightning). Vanille slightly annoyed me, but shipping her with Fang made it all worth it.

Sazh was, however, always amazing.

There was a lot I didn't like about the game, but the character interactions and relationships were awesome. I loved that. Nothing annoys me more than a team of characters that only ever interact with the protagonist.

Yea, IA, that was probably my favorite part of what I played.

I actually ended up shipping Snow with Lightning a little, and I don't know why. Then felt guilty because of Serah and how OOC it would be for both of them, but something about the idea of it happening in different circumstances intrigued me. Snow was a bit of an idiot but he kind of grew on me. Serah as well, though I didn't care for her design either. Vanille/Fang was the best ship and sometimes I think about replaying the game just so I ca see what happens with them, but fuck, it's so long...

Sazh was awesome.

I loved Hope. Then again I also loved Snow (and Snow and Hope's entire interactions, especially the stuff just pre-Hope's home where both of them get some character growth), so maybe my tolerance for annoying characters is more than most.

Is that the kid with the Ken Amada plot? I didn't play XIII but I think I remember my friend playing both at the same time and commenting on it.

I don't think you've got anything to worry about anon, now that I remember that. IIRC, Ken wasn't a teenager in the later P3P, and they gave him a relationship link. Your secret is way less awkward.
