Yeah, me too.

oh, I thought of another one but I'm not 100% sure if I'm correct on it. If you want to second/applaud what someone said, is it "hear, hear!" or "here, here!"? I always thought it was the former but I see the latter all the time.

You are correct, it is the former. The latter is but a sign of the wretched and fallen times in which it is our misfortune to live.

(Note for the humor-impaired: the statement is accurate, the tone is hyperbolic for purposes of self-parody. Oh, and if you MUST find something to be upset about, I'm white.)

"Hear, hear!" -- I sometimes doubt myself, but then I visualize a huge crowd around a speaker, and the call is people in the crowd encouraging everyone to listen. But everyone's already gathered, so no one needs to say where to go. Or just think "hear ye, hear ye", which is way less convoluted.
