I find it so funny that these two fell next to each other. Because I feel about the book & film of 26 much the way the OP of 25 feels about Wizard Of OZ.

The actual book version of Jungle Book = fan-freaking-tastic. Bagheera kicks total ass. And Kaa? For starters he's a GOOD GUY - and almost as cool as Bagheera.

The Disney version? @$%S*&$! Soooo wrong!

Yeah, I like the book a lot more too, but I figured more people would recognize the Disney picture. I would've put that in the secret, but I thought that might make it a little tl;dr.

I liked the movie well enough when I was a kid - but then I read the book (and the Second Jungle Book) the year I was in grade 8 and I found I couldn't go back and watch the movie again.

The book was just soooo much better and so much richer.

I want to watch the 2-disc Platinum edition of the Disney movie know just to see what they say about the changes. I heard once that the animators had originally done something much closer to Kipling but then Walt Disney told them to ignore all but the basic premise of the book and just "have fun with it" :P
