15. Another note? He was going to give up his freedom to keep the Master. So, yeah, that put Ten in a new light.

38. YOU ARE NOT ALONE. R&C is the best gaming series ever. Final Fantasy can fuck right off. I want humor and ridiculousness and endearing enemies (oh god, Nefarious was hilarious) and the RYNO (1 and 3, not 2).

YOU ARE NOT ALONE! :hugs:

Expand? Not trying to start wank, that just seems like an interesting point to bring up.

In the last of the Master trilogy, Ten made a weird decision. While he has little problems leaving and losing people (maybe "little" is harsh), he offers to give up his travelling when the prospect of what to do with the Master arises. I mean, from the way he reacted to any idea of settling down before LotTL, it's kind of shocking that he's all, "okay, maybe being a Timelord housewife won't be so bad" after so much resistance.

He wouldn't have done it for Rose. Only for one of his own kind. There is an intrinsic loyalty to his people that he lacks in regards to humans, I think.

[identity profile] xanykaos.livejournal.com 2007-11-20 04:02 am (UTC)(link)
Huh. Never saw it like that. Good point. I think a large part of that loyalty towards Time Lords comes from that whole "never know what you have 'till it's gone"--being the only Time Lord was a little too much for the lad who always ran away from home.

I only saw LotTL once, but I still can't help but think the situation's a bit apples-to-oranges. In the case of the Master, he couldn't leave him to Earth's authorities because they'd never contain him. The only two options to neutralize the Master were for the Doctor to take him in or to kill him, and the Doctor certainly couldn't bring himself to do the latter. Whereas Rose...I don't think Rose would've ever asked something like that of him. It just wouldn't fit anywhere in their dynamic (at least, not for another 30-ish years). Except for the mortgage bit. But that was more joke+desperation than anything else. But Rose would've never asked the Doctor to settle down anyway.
(I'm probably only being so anti-this-theory just because I can see it being used to death in some Doctor/Master stuff, and while they're pretty, and pretty together, it just...kind of breaks my brain...)

But I guess I can see where you're coming from. Is it weird that Ten's heartbreak when the Master died reminds me so much of Nine's exuberance during "The Doctor Dances"? He's this crazy, wacky, ancient, mad-uncle of an alien, but with so much Love. For everything. Ah, Doctor.

But Rose would've never asked the Doctor to settle down anyway.

I think I disagree here.

I see your argument, but since it is the Doctor, who has never been one for the ways of the Timelords, I was surprised he was willing to sacrifice so much.

[identity profile] shobogan.livejournal.com 2007-11-20 05:32 am (UTC)(link)
Well, the Master wasn't one for the ways of the Time Lords, either - and he'd been a part of the Doctor's lives from the beginning. I think it had rather more to do with who it was than what it was, though both played a part.

I can't really see him acting the same way for those stories in regards to Random Cardinal To The Left.
