So I've started watching mlp: fim and would like to dip my toes into the fandom. But I really want to avoid the crazy parts that people always talk about. Can anybody point me too any good fics/art/whatever? I'm prefer gen, am okay with shippy but definitely not porny. Or grimdark or creepy, but nothing so horrible it will ruin the show. Can anyone suggest anything for me?

ugh please, most MLP fandom people call themselves "bronies", it's just the fan name. What does "brony parts" even mean? If you mean stay off of 4chan or something, well, whatever.

I highly recommend Egophiliac's Slice of Pony Life and Moonstuck! They're fun little G-rated comics. Slice is about the Cake family, and Moonstuck is about having adventures on the moon.

In fact, I just recomend Ego in general, she's really nice and does super-cute, fun art.

On tumblr, tag for EVERY. THING. UNDER. THE SUN. with regards to porn in your preferred blacklist thing (xkit, tumblr savior, etc). FiMfiction isn't bad for fanfic, but there's a LOT of shit on it. But look for the gen fic there, you might find some good stuff.

Ujm...stay off 4chan, stay away from reddit, stay FAR THE FUCK AWAY from derpibooru or what ever the hell it's called. It's a cesspit, no better than it's predecessor, ponibooru.

Find some general fandom blogs, like fuckyeahmlp or something to that extent.

You should be fine that way. There's a few comms on LJ that aren't too bad, but be aware of the mod. She's...niceish, but borderline SJW.

Just read the rules and don't name The-Pony-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named and you'll be fine.

I haven't read a lot of pony fics, but I did like It's Dangerous Business, Going Out Your Door. It's an adventure fic about Applejack, Rarity, and Rainbow Dash.

http://www.fimfiction.net/stories/top Start at the beginning and go down, keeping the mature filter on--you'll find a fair bit of fluff at first, but really good stuff starts showing up a few pages in. Don't bother with the "new stories" page until you're more confident you can recognize crap. Skip any timeskip fic with the Romance tag and the Spike character tag unless you really trust the author not to screw it up.
