Anything from Image, Dark Horse, and Oni Comics will largely have little to no superhero/cape stuff. They're all a pretty wide variety of genres and stuff. (Dark Horse is focusing more on creator-owned stuff now that Marvel will have the 'Star Wars' license -which DH was best known for besides 'Hellboy'- next year)
Fantagraphics is the company for non-cape comic stuff, though. But they deal more with alternative/underground-ish stuff. 'Love and Rockets' is what they're best known for, which in of itself is a great series in so many ways. And iirc, they've also put out a lot of the Carl Barks and Don Rosa 'Scrooge McDuck'/Disney*Duck stories, too.
Boom and IDW do have some original/non-capey stuff, but they're mostly known for their licensed properties, especially IDW (which puts out Transformers, TMNT, X-Files, and Ghostbusters comics), though IDW has the 'Locke and Key' series, which I hear is a good read.

The only issue I have with their TMNT is the jarring art style shifts every so often, but even then, it's still a pretty solid piece of work. And one of my friends loves their X-Files comic, too. (She's just happy they brought back some of her favorite characters, haha)
So yeah, IDW is def. one to look into if you're into more derivative works as far as comics go.
