I've had several of my non-comics reading friends start conversations with me about Ms. Marvel due to the fact that the title's written by G. Willow Wilson and due to articles such as these:

Comic books have become a lot more mainstream than you think.

Those aren't Marvel though. Those are news organizations getting wind of something trendy. They did it for Kevin Keller. They did it for Batwoman. Northstar marrying Kyle. Baz the 'Muslim Lantern.' Alan Scott the 'gay green lantern.' Only one of those sites gave 'Big two' comic news more attention than talking about the movies or how Disney bought Marvel.

It's because of social media that stuff actually gets out now. On one hand it's great that more people are hearing about stuff. It would be great if they supported the stuff other than said good for Marvel. I hope it works well. I hope it spreads and they give books that died too soon another chance.

Kinda good tho, I wouldn't say I'm particularly interested in comics but everytime one manages to make the news with it's "controversial characters" I've found myself a series to get into (since I don't read comic news or track comic producers and everything, so I imagine I'm not the only person who will passively get into it but only if the information comes to me?)

I was responding to the second part of the comment: "If you are not someone who into comic books, you are not going to hear about any of this. The general population doesn't care about any Marvel characters that are not in a movie." (Probably shoulda quoted that bit in my first response.)
