I'm one of those people who values the story, ha ha. I can't speak for everyone, but I'm not a great judge of quality story telling, so really it just has to fly by what I find interesting (The Darkness) or think is great writing (The Last of Us). I mean, gameplay is important too! It's just second in my list of priorities when looking at a new game, I guess, unless gameplay is just so fun it doesn't even need story (a la the first Borderlands). It's not the end all be all.
