They've been pretty clear about the misogyny so far - Kamala has a lot of restrictions on her that her brother doesn't have, when Kamala caught coming home late he was going to beat up whoever hurt her...but when it turned out she had been out late of her own accord and no-one had hurt her, he was angry at her. Her parents are somewhat more liberal than her brother, but still have the same basic attitudes. Kamala doesn't veil but her mother does.

(Actually my best friends in high school was from a strict Christian family and the treatment was pretty much the same, TBH.)
