Perhaps he had actual, non-cosmetic stuff wrong with his teeth, and just got the caps in the process of or after getting them fixed? I dunno, I'm not a fan of perfect blinding Hollywood pearly whites either, but on the other hand, my teeth are shit and if I could afford to get them fixed so they didn't hurt/pose a health risk I would, even if it meant having a boring Hollywood smile.

Yeah, could be. But I thought he had pearly whites before tbh, only one very slightly crooked on front (like, VERY slightly) and they looked like normal healthy teeth.
